The jury was faced with the difficult task of awarding the “Blue Genius Award” to the best entry in each of the various categories from among the numerous great submissions.

Michael Hoyer, the organizer, set a high standard this year with a clear focus on high-resolution panorama shows. One optical highlight was the HDAV panorama show “Namibia” filmed and produced by Josef Niedermeier in 4k resolution. This year AV Stumpfl again sponsored the media festival with media servers and projection technology. For the festival an 18m wide Vario panorama projection screen was set up in the new concert hall in VS and the 112m² projection surface brilliantly lit using three powerful Panasonic PT-DZ110 projectors.

The new AV Stumpfl Wings Engines guaranteed a judder free show and perfect soft edge blending. The complex sequences of all the show blocks were arranged in Wings Vioso using the playlist and the control panel. As the entries had been submitted in various formats, maximum flexibility was required of the playback system and of the operators. Christian Horn co-ordinated the technical components perfectly and ensured smooth running using the Wings AV system.

We are particularly pleased that the majority of the winning entries had been created using Wings Platinum. In the category Professional the jury awarded the prize to David Hettich’s production “Der blaue Planet” (The Blue Planet) and Jörg Lorimer was the award winner in the category “Amateur” for his show “Zauber des Nebel” (Enchantment of the Mist).
The audience prize went to the production “ABBA – hautnah” (Abba – close up) by Wolfgang “Bubi‟ Heilemann. This very musical HDAV panorama show was produced by HornColor  using Wings Platinum, too.

The result was a top-class media weekend, peppered with high-quality projections and a great atmosphere in the new concert hall.
