On the evening of March 14th the world premiere of the new Samsung Galaxy 4 started with a gripping countdown. Over 3,000 journalists and industry representatives filled the seats at Radio City Music Hall in New York and waited expectantly for the presentation of the successor to one of the most successful present day smart phones. For the fans, the event was transmitted live to Times Square and worldwide via the Internet.
The whole show was organized very elaborately in the style of a musical and the actors interacted with the giant projection in the background throughout the show. The complete show was produced and presented using AV Stumpfl’s media server system “Wings AV” which was developed specially for such interactive events! Wings AV consists of several software and hardware components, which have been developed and manufactured entirely in Wallern, Upper Austria.
The projection onto three giant projection surfaces was carried out using eight projectors via two “Wings Engine Stage” media servers. Thanks to its robust construction AV Stumpfl’s Wings Engine Stage is perfect for the tough demands of everyday use in Rental & Stage Business. An additional advantage of the new Wings Engine Stage is certainly the illuminated LED front which, due to the colour changes, enables recognition of the status of the media server from quite a distance. With the help of the built-in touch screen it is possible to intervene quickly and systematically in an emergency. Using the “Wings Vioso” software the calibration of the projection is fully automatic.
Thanks to this unique, patented camera-based calibration process, the merging of many projectors into a seamless projection on any type of complex surface is possible simply and quickly. As the producer of the New York show confirmed, “One strong point of Wings Vioso is that it lets you change the content of the show flexibly and quickly as well as being able to react towards the actors.” Kevin Zevchik from AV Stumpfl USA added, “Additionally, the live players are a perfect way of adding content even during the on-going show”.
The operation of the sequences in a show like this may, if so wished, be carried out comfortably from a mobile touch screen using the system components “Wings Touch”. Via the hardware component “Wings IObox” which was also developed in Wallern and is manufactured there, lighting and stage effects can also be connected.
Employees of AV Stumpfl’s American subsidiary assisted and supported the event agency throughout the event. Thanks to its international subsidiaries in Russia, Australia, the Netherlands and the USA it is easily possible for AV Stumpfl to provide optimal support for projects of any size.
