Innovative Projection Solution for the Catholic Church of St. Maria in Kaiserslautern

The Catholic Church of St. Maria in Kaiserslautern faced the challenge of integrating modern technology into its historic space.

Wallern a.d. Trattnach (Austria), 9th September 2024 – In collaboration with klip GmbH and under the leadership of Oliver Schreyer, a tailored solution was developed over a period of 12 months. The goal was to create a projection screen that meets the high aesthetic and functional demands of the church space while being easy to install and dismantle.

A Flexible Solution for Limited Space
For the St. Maria Church, it was particularly important that the screen could be completely hidden when not in use. After extensive consultations and close collaboration with Jürgen Holzhäuser of Ing. Dienstleistungen, Berlin, a design was developed that could be flexibly installed in the church's attic. This solution not only considers space constraints but also ensures safety, as mounting on a church attic presents specific challenges in terms of structural integrity and accessibility. The developed construction even received a CE certification.

Perfect Projection Through Advanced Technology
In addition to the specially crafted screen, a powerful EPSON projector with a shift lens was installed on the gallery, provided by Ton&Technik GmbH. This combination enables impressive projections and ensures that both congregation members and visitors can enjoy the best possible visual experience.

First Use in Front of a Prominent Audience
The innovative projection solution was publicly presented for the first time on September 9th, when St. Maria Church welcomed the building directors of the Catholic dioceses of Germany. The feedback was consistently positive, and the solution impressed with its flexibility and user-friendliness.

Collaboration and Implementation
The successful realization of this project was the result of close cooperation among several experts. klip GmbH took on the overall project management, ensuring the smooth achievement of the project goals, while Jürgen Holzhäuser was responsible for the technical development, production, and supervision of the installation, as well as obtaining the necessary certification. The professional installation of the screen was carried out by Götz Werbung GmbH, and Ton&Technik GmbH provided the projector and supported the selection and installation of the appropriate projection technology. This collaborative approach enabled seamless integration of the technical components into the historic church space.

Conclusion
The successful integration of AV technology in St. Maria Church demonstrates how thoughtful planning and innovative technical solutions can be implemented even in historic buildings. This flexible and space-saving solution meets all the requirements for modern yet discreet presentation technology and sets new standards for similar projects.
