Berchtesgardener salt mine

Spectacular underground projection

Every year about 350,000 visitors in the Berchtesgaden salt mine are able to watch a particularly spectacular simulation deep down below the ground. The virtual water level of the salt cathedral is dropping while the crystals are starting to grow. Only 150 years ago, this funnel-shaped space in the Berchtesgaden salt mine was still used for salt production. Dr. Andreas Scheucher of Scenomedia used AV Stumpfl equipment for this installation.

A blue laser on a height-adjustable platform turns this projection (2x Sanyo PLC-XF1000 with wide angle lens) into a particularly impressive spectacle and completes the lighting design in the room. The entire funnel with a length of 50 m and a height of approx. 35 m is used as projection surface. The natural darkness below ground provides the ideal background so that the brilliant images come into their own.

The show is activated by the tour guide via key controls.
In addition to this, it is also possible to project company logos, e.g. for particular events, onto the wall and to create a customized design.

Projection, light, laser, fog machine and show activation are managed centrally by a Wings Platinum show program that makes all components run in perfect harmony.
