Digital Signage on the "Linzerin"

The shipping company Wurm+Köck has put an excursion ship into operation in Linz. Sightseeing tours in the MS Linzerin are offered on the Danube and the steel city of Linz can be explored at the same time. You pass by the Ars Electronica Center, Lentos, the Brucknerhaus and, of course, the VOEST site where high-quality steel is produced for the whole world.

The challenge was a digital signage system which automatically visualizes background information at each respective location. This task was solved by Scenomedia using three Samsung displays arranged as a panorama. The actual position of the ship is captured by GPS, the AVIO system and the Wings IO boxes trigger the information videos at the pre-defined locations. The high-definition images and 4k videos were arranged in full resolution in Wings Vioso. Individual HD videos were computed for the playback and the screen bezels also taken into account. The SC Master controls the 3 Stumpfl HD Player Pro units which sync and play back the position-dependent contents in the network.

In addition, two Canon XEED WUX400ST short-throw projectors were installed. These projectors were selected because due to the low height of the lower deck the projectors had to be placed as close to the screen as possible. If necessary two motorized projection screens can be used in order to play back customized presentations during special excursions and company events.
