A History of the World of Colours

250 years of Faber-Castell

2500 invited guests are sitting in the Nuremberg Frankenhalle surrounded by an enormous 125 m wide U-shaped projection when the journey through time begins. Faber-Castell can look back on a company history spanning 250 years.

Günter Schwank took this opportunity to create a script based on his innovative multi-vision show. The visitors plunge into history and follow the various stages in the development of the company. Again and again, important innovations in the company coincide with historical events and are illustrated by carefully prepared image, audio and video material from the archives.Breathtaking animations were created for this extraordinary projection that make the audience believe to be right in the center of the activity.

The material was prepared in a way which allowed the 20 projectors (Sanyo XF-47) to display the images with a resolution of more than 16,000 pixels in width. For this purpose, 6 Media Engines Quad combined with Wings Platinum by AV Stumpfl were used for softedging and warping.Publitec used high-quality fibre-glass cables for the complex network of components. Audio on 13 channels was supplied to the audio mixer (PM 5D) by Wings Platinum via ADAT. The live images of the speakers making their speeches were supplied via separate projectors and integrated into the overall projection. SLD Mediatec, who were also responsible for the organization of the entire festivities, worked jointly with Christian Horn (Horncolor Multimedia GmbH) in the creative implementation of this highly demanding project.

The technical know-how and the material supplied by Publitec and SD Mediatec produced a fascinating mix made of colors, images, sounds and the history of this very special company. The central theme "Colors" as the common thread through the project was achieved by syncing Wings Master and audio mixer (e:cue - 80 LED bars, 40 LED- and 40 classic moving heads) via RS 232.The color design of the images reached far into the room and covered it with a shiny sea of brilliant colors.  An additional highlight was the laser show. 6 laser banks with a total of more than  25 W power and the pyrotechnical effects were controlled centrally via Wings and SMTP timecode. This spectacular show, however, did not remain a "one-off" affair. The central part of the projection of approx. 30 m in width is now going on a trip around the world. The visualized company history will be shown in all offices of this international company allowing it to celebrate this anniversary with customers and friends all over the world..
